| 27 July 2015

“We have a great day planned to celebrate the 18th year of Ferragosto in Five Dock,” he said.

This year’s festival includes four stages featuring an exciting mix of Italian, homegrown and children’s entertainment, along with fantastic cooking demonstrations.

FerraVarieta will bring the Italian party to life with dancing from the Italian Renassiance Dance Group, Shine Italian Dance Group and the Ceroc and Modern Jive Dance Company. Plus performances from the Italian Biligual Choir, the Coro D’Abruzzo Choir and Dominique and Amelia Granturco.

The party will continue at FerraMusica with headline act , Australia’s very own Italian son of song and great local bands.

Don’t miss The Great Big Story Book at FerraGiovani, a stage especially for the kids, and crowd favourite Murphy’s Puppets. Plus talented local dance schools.

FerraCucina will showcase a line-up of fantastic local chefs plus celebrity chef Darren Robertson, of  fame, who will show audiences how to cook beautiful food, offering tastings throughout the day.

New to Ferragosto this year is FerraSagra, which will offer wine tasting, full bar service and delicious Italian food.

Also new this year is FerraCinema; brought to you by Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre. The St Albans Church grounds will be transformed into an outdoor cinema showing classic Italian films throughout the day.

Along with a traditional Italian car and Ducati bike display, this year Ferragosto will also feature a collection of new model motorbikes and scooters and new model cars.

Plus don’t miss your chance to win an eight day tour for two in Italy, worth $5,590. Visit the Insight Vacations stall on the day to enter the draw.

Ferragosto will again be an environmentally friendly event and Mayor Tsirekas said we are committed to organising events that minimise environmental impact.

“Ferragosto is plastic bag and polystyrene free, we have bicycle parking, water stations to refill water bottles, we use biodiesel generators to power the stages, our promotional material, flyers and programs are printed on recycled paper and we reduce our carbon footprint offset through Climate Friendly,” he said.

“I urge the community to help us in keeping the event environmentally friendly by riding your bike to Ferragosto and bringing your own reusable carry bag. If you visit the Eco-Hub on the day and show your reusable bag or bike helmet, you could win a $100 voucher from a local bike store or online eco store Biome.”

Ferragosto is on Great North Road, Five Dock on Sunday, 16 August from 10am-4pm.

“It’s going to be an action packed fun and exciting day for the whole family,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
