North Strathfield

Have your say in setting the future direction for your local shops at Concord Road, North Strathfield.

Do you have a great idea on how to improve the Concord Road, North Strathfield retail area (eastern side of the road)? We are collaborating with local businesses and residents to develop a Place Plan for Concord Road, North Strathfield. The initial area that the Plan will focus on is the three blocks between Wellbank Street and Correys Avenue.

A Place Plan identifies the key stakeholders, opportunities and constraints of shopping precincts and the actions that may be implemented. It identifies and prioritises short and long term opportunities. The objective is to work together in creating ‘places’ that provide economic, social and cultural nourishment for the people who will use them.

Residents and visitors of the shopping precinct are invited to participate in a survey to assist us in identifying key actions to enhance your shopping experience and encourage you to visit your local shops more often.

To have your say, please complete a survey in your preferred language:

Please submit surveys undertaken in languages other than English, by fax to 9911 6550 or post to the Economic Development Unit, City of Canada Bay, Locked Bag 1470, Drummoyne NSW 1470.

In the coming months there will be further opportunity to be part of process, including an online community forum and group workshops. It is a great opportunity to work together to improve the vitality of the precinct and create a place that people want to come to: shop, eat, relax and catch up with friends.

For further information on this project, please contact Council's Economic Development Unit on 9911 6555.

The Bakehouse Quarter in North Strathfield has emerged on the old Arnott's site as a new and exciting destination in the City of Canada Bay.  The design of the Bakehouse Quarter celebrates its history with clever urban design that blends the traditional signs and warehouse buildings with ultra modern constructions.  The cobblestone road and Edwardian style-lighting echos back to the turn of the last century when the original Arnott's factory was first built.  It incorporates public art and landscaping to create a distinctive and agreeable shopping precinct.

The arcade should be a real favourite for food lovers whether they like the café culture or to cook at home.  It also boasts a healthy body business centre with gym, pharmacy, ten pin bowling, indoor play centre, beauty and consulting businesses.

It is also a new employment hub within the City of Canada Bay with the Arnott's and NRMA Head Offices and is set to continue to develop as more businesses take up the opportunities that the development offers.

Come by car, train, bus, bicycle or walk.

Did you know…

  • The Arnott's factory opened in 1906 and was nicknamed 'Arnott's folly', as people considered it too far from the CBD to attract workers
  • The Bakehouse Quarter has more than 2000 car spaces.
