Community Representation

31 October 2017 | Council

The City of Canada Bay is calling for community representatives for a number of our committees.

Council committees are a great way for the community and Council to work together on a range of important issues to ensure a wide range of views are represented. We aim to have representation from a diverse and balanced range of stakeholders on each.

Committees provide high level advice to Council. If you are connected with the area and are interested in representing your community, please look at the detailed information on each of the committees as the details of the application process for each and dates differ.

Committees seeking community representatives are:

  • Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee – provides assurance on internal controls, risk management and governance. Applications close 28 November 2017.
  • Access Committee – provides advice on policies, strategies and actions to improve access and inclusion of people with disabilities. Expressions of Interest close 7 November 2017.
  • Rhodes Community Committee – review issues concerning the Rhodes Peninsula. Applications closed on 16 November 2017.
  • Sustainable Cities Committee – a forum to drive environmental improvement in Council and our community. Applications close 10 December 2017.
  • Local Planning Panel – a new panel is being established to determine development applications and to provide other advice on planning matters. The panel of five includes one community member and an alternate to represent local matters. Councillors, Property Developers and Real Estate Agents are excluded from membership. Recruitment for this Panel will happen in the near future.
