Canada Bay Family Day Care
The City of Canada Bay Council provides Family Day Care services in its LGA and surrounds. Carers are currently registered in Abbotsford, Canada Bay, Concord, Concord West, Drummoyne, Five Dock, Leichhardt and Russell Lea. Carers provide home-based small group child care. Carers are trained, supported and monitored by professional Coordination Unit staff employed by City of Canada Bay Council. Staff ensure that State regulations are met and quality care provided through ongoing homevisits, training and play sessions.
Family Day Care combines the benefits of structured childcare with the warmth and intimacy of growing up at home. Children in Family Day Care develop a close relationship with one carer, with opportunities to learn and develop through stimulating play and exploration in a small group of children of mixed ages. Small group care means that children receive more individual attention as well as social interaction with peers. Family Day Care has developed a document outlining useful information relating to our services and functions.
Philosophy
City of Canada Bay Family Day Care believes that high quality childcare can be provided in a home-based setting and a natural family-like atmosphere by carers who have the knowledge, skills and experience to meet the needs of children and their families.
A strong partnership between parents and the service ensures that children are cared for in a safe and secure environment where they are valued and respected. Personalised care enables children to build a relationship with the carer and often results in the carer and their family becoming part of the child’s extended family. Families needing care for their children have the choice, through City of Canada Bay Family Day Care, of care in a setting that reflects the family and the community in which they live.
Service Operation
City of Canada Bay Family Day Care is a not-for-profit service. Funding is provided by:
- Family Day Care Network Support Program (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations);
- Childcare Benefit payments for families (Family Assistance Office); and
- City of Canada Bay Council.
The service is:
- Licensed by Department of Community Services under the NSW Children’s Services Regulation 2004; and
- Accredited by the National Childcare Accreditation Council as a high quality service.
