Capital Works & Maintenance in the City of Canada Bay

The following is a list of road and maintenance projects being undertaken in the City of Canada Bay over coming months.

Henley Marine Drive, eastern side of Drummoyne Rowing Club

Works underway to remove a fig tree and rock ledge affecting the Drummoyne Rowing Club.  Work to be completed prior to the end of November.

Hamilton Street, North Strathfield - Bridge Works

Construction of a pedestrian/cycle bridge over Powells Creek at the western end of Hamilton Street will soon commence.

Taplin Park Drummoyne - Boat Ramp extensions 

Precast boat ramp extensions and prefabricated floating pontoon will commence on site on 18 October.  Boat users are advised to utilise boat ramps located in Bayview Park (metered parking), Cabarita Park (metered parking), Blaxland Road, Rhodes (unmetered) or for lower harbour access, use Rosebay Boat Ramp (unmetered - Woollahra).  Works are expected to be completed in February, 2010. 

McIlwaine Park

Works underway to install new playground equipment and other improvements.  Work will be completed at the end of the month.

Timbrell Park

Works underway to install a brand new all abilities playground.  To be completed in November, 2009.

Roberts Reserve

Works underway shortly to install new playground equipment and soft fall.  To be completed later this month.

Cintra Park Netball Facilities

Work has commenced on the construction of a new club house at Cintra Park.  Work is expected to be completed by March, 2010.

Concord Central and McNamara Avenue Local Area Traffic Management

Works will shortly commence on construction of a number of traffic calming devices in this busy area.  Construction works will interrupt some traffic movements.

Uhrs Point

Upgrade to public amenities to commence in October 2009.  Work will take approximately six months to complete.

Weed Spraying Program

Council is presently spraying for broadleaf weeds in turf such as bindi, clover, flat weed, cats ear, dandelion etc.  The product used is, Chipco Spearhead and it is a selective herbicide.

Soon we will commence spraying out our wintergrass in conjunction with our spring renovation of the sportsfields.   Council staff will adhere to all mandatory safety procedures and use correct signage.
