Councillor Tony Fasanella elected new Deputy Mayor of City of Canada Bay

Councillor Fasanella has represented his community for more than 20 years, having been elected to Drummoyne Council in 1991.

He was voted Mayor of Drummoyne in 1995, 1999 and 2000, and was the last Mayor of Drummoyne Council. 

He was also instrumental in the merger of Drummoyne and Concord Councils to form the City of Canada Bay in 2000 and was elected to the City of Canada Bay in 2004.

Councillor Fasanella established the Five Dock Main Street Committee to promote small business in the area. This Committee initiated the Ferragosto Festival which is now in its 17th year, attracting more than 50,000 people each year.

He is also the chairman of the Canada Bay Traffic Committee.

Councillor Fasanella is a lifelong resident of Canada Bay and is married with three children. He is fluent in Italian and is a strong advocate for the Italian community.

“I am honoured to be elected as Deputy Mayor of the City of Canada Bay and would like to thank Councillor Tyrrell for her service over the past 12 months,” he said.

Councillor Pauline Tyrrell also thanked the community and Council for their support over the past 12 months.
