Proposed Commercial Marina in Kendall Bay, Breakfast Point

Notice of Public Hearing:  23 February 2011

The Honourable Tony Kelly MLC, Minister for Planning, has directed the NSW Planning Assessment Commission to review the project application for the proposed Kendall Bay Commercial Marina Project.

The Planning Assessment Commission will hold a Public Hearing at Concord Community Centre, 1A Gipps Street, Concord on Wednesday, 23 February 2011 starting at 9.30am.  Mayor Angelo Tsirekas will present Council's submission against the proposed commercial marina in Kendall Bay to the Commission.

The Commission comprises:

  • Dr Neil Shepherd AM (Chair)
  • Mr John Court
  • Dr Graeme Batley (an independent expert).

As a community this is our last chance to demonstrate we are strongly opposed to:

  1. A floating marina for 172 vessels, including five berths for the general public
  2. A fixed jetty and pontoon on the site of the original wharf
  3. A kiosk with seating for 50 people at the seaboard end of the jetty
  4. Installation of a geotextile blanket and rock ballasts over the seabed of the proposed marina lease area
  5. A small manager's office
  6. A 58 space carpark located on Peninsula Drive for use only by marina patrons.

The hearing is open to the public and all residents are encouraged to attend.  Your attendance and support will be critical to the outcome of this project.

All previous submissions made to the Department of Planning have been forwarded to the Commission for its consideration.  If you have made a submission to the Department of Planning and wish to speak at the hearing, you will need to register by Tuesday, 15 February 2011.

For residents who did not make a submission to the Department of Planning and wish to make a written submission to the Commission, you should send your submission to Megan Webb by Tuesday, 15 February 2011 and contact Megan if you wish to speak at the public hearing.
