How does the Development Advisory Panel Operate
The Development Advisory Panel is run by a senior member of Council’s town planning team. Members of the Panel also includes a senior health and building surveyor and a senior engineer. From time to time, if the particular circumstances of a proposal require it, other Council professionals such as a heritage advisor, or environmental professional will attend the Panel and provide advice.
Any proposal is discussed by the Panel so that planning, building, engineering or design issues are resolved before the DA is actually submitted. Importantly these discussions can take place in an environment where Council has had the time to carefully look at the plans and other documents which support the application.
The particular objectives of the Panel are:
- To make sure that all major or complex applications are dealt with as quickly as possible when they are submitted, by reducing the need for negotiations and requests for additional information or modified plans during processing.
- To encourage all applications to meet Council’s and the community’s expectations.
- To encourage good environmental planning and urban design outcomes.
- To promote excellent service to developers and at the same time making sure those expectations of residents and other interest groups, as well as the elected Council are respected.
To meet with the panel you will need to submit a completed form:
- Development Advisory Panel - Dwellings; OR
- Development Advisory Panel - Major Development
