Specific Industry Requirements

Council acknowledges that within the food industry there are sectors that require specific information.  For example, in child care centres young children are particularly vulnerable to food poisoning, in school canteens food is being prepared in most cases by volunteers and with regard to seafood retailers, there are specific requirements in relation to labelling, display and storage of seafood.

Food Safety for Children's Services

Young children are particularly vulnerable to food poisoning, making food safety within child care centres extremely important.  Council has provided information below to assist child care management staff maintain high standards of food safety.

Council's Child Care Centre Bulletin

In 2010, City of Canada Bay Council Health Officers commenced annual inspections of all of its 26 child care centres. The results and findings have been included in Council's Child Care Centre Bulletin January 2011.

Gold Star Food Safety Rating Scheme

Council's Environmental Health Team is currently working on this exciting initiative aimed at City of Canada Bay child care centres.  It is expected that information will be available on this website and posted to child care services in July 2011.
