Complaints and Enquiries

Council's Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs), can be contacted Monday to Friday between 8.30 and 5pm by calling the Customer Services team on 9911 6555.  You can also send an email to Council which will be forwarded to the Law Enforcement Team to be followed up.

Obviously these activities do often take place out of office hours - in those instances you can contact a Ranger by calling the emergency after hours number 9911 6555.

To prevent bogus calls you will be asked to leave your name and address - the Law Enforcement Officer WILL NOT pass these details onto anyone he investigates.

For any law related issues not dealt with by Council's LEOs you should contact the Police.  Our local area command is Burwood and they can be contacted on 9745 1333.

Areas of Investigation

Law Enforcement Officers will investigate the following matters:

  • Abandoned Vehicles - a car must be illegally parked or out of registration before a Ranger will investigate;
  • Footpath Obstructions - which are creating a nuisance or hazard for pedestrians or the public in general;
  • Illegal activities in parks (golf, vehicles etc);
  • Heavy trucks on light roads; and
  • Uncovered trucks.

Hours of Investigation

Law Enforcement Officers will accept and investigate complaints within the following hours where appropriate:

  • Between 6am and 9.30pm everyday; and
  • Out of Hours between 9.30pm and 6am call 9911 6555.

All matters will be referred to the appropriate section in Council for follow up during business hours for the following:

  • Illegal Building work; 
  • Out of hours building work; and
  • Non-authorised/non-approved buildings.

Council's LEOs enforce the parking laws throughout the city of Canada Bay. Another part of the LEO's role is to investigate the following issues relating to parking in the area:

  • Illegal parking;
  • Council car parks; and
  • Dangerous parking.
