Natural Areas
The City of Canada Bay is situated in the heart of Sydney’s inner west, just 6km from the Sydney CBD. The 20 square kilometre Local Government Area (LGA) is largely characterised by residential, commercial and industrial land-uses. Despite the relatively long history of European Australian occupation in the area, and the scale of landscape modification over the last two hundred years, there still remains a number of important remnant natural areas in the City that provide us with a snapshot of what the environment was like prior to 1788.
Parramatta River Catchment Group
The City of Canada Bay is a member of the Parramatta River Catchment Group (PRCG) being a regional organisation of local councils, state agencies and community representatives whose aim is to work together to improve the health of the Parramatta River catchment. The river extends from Blacktown Creek in the west to the confluence of the Lane Cove River in the east.
