Home Power Savings
The City of Canada Bay is supporting and promoting the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water NSW, Home Power Savings Program which is helping vulnerable households save power and money on their bills.
Through the Home Power Savings Program 220,000 households will save up to 20 per cent a year on their power use and cut carbon pollution.
Throughout January, Council is sending a direct mail out to Meals on Wheels clients, home library clients, Senior Citizen groups and aged care networks within its community as well as including the program in its online ezines and website in an attempt to engage eligible residents to undertake the FREE Home Power Savings assessment.
Every eligible household that joins the program gets a FREE:
- Home power assessment by an energy expert (about one hour)
- Power Savings Kit
- Personal Power Savings Action Plan.
Using the Power Savings Kit items will save households around 10 per cent per year on their power use. Following the tips in your Power Savings Action Plan can save another 10 per cent per year. Some households will be able to save more.
Saving power reduces carbon pollution and our impact on the environment. The average home produces 160,000 black balloons of carbon pollution a year which contributes to climate change.
Households can take part in the program now by calling the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water on 1300 662 416 or by visiting the Home Power Savings website.
