Estuarine Vegetation Complex

Lovedale Place in Concord West is the only location in the City of Canada Bay where a complete zonation exists between mangrove, saltmarsh and floodplain forest. These three vegetation communities, which blend into one another to form an entire estuarine vegetation complex, exist in only a handful of locations within the Parramatta River Catchment.

The site has very high conservation significance in the Local Government Area, as it also provides habitat for the rare saltmarsh species Narrow-leaved Wilsonia (Wilsonia backhousei), a plant listed as Vulnerable under Schedule 2 of the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act (1995).
