Mayor's Message

Livvi's Place, an all abilities playground in Timbrell Park was officially opened on Sunday at the Touched by Olivia Family Fun Fair.  Council has worked with the Touched by Olivia Foundation and Leighton Contractors to deliver this wonderful new playground to our community and it was great to see so many people come along and enjoy the day. If you didn’t get a chance to come along on Sunday, I encourage you to visit the exciting new playground soon.

Thank you to everyone who came and joined in the fun of the fifth annual Mayoral Golf Day last week. It was a fantastic day and the event was a great success, raising funds for Five Dock Public School, Abbotsford Public School and Concord West Public School for a number of innovative projects they are undertaking.  2009 Mayoral Golf Day - Massey Park

Residents would no doubt be aware of the NSW Government's plan to remove the toll on the M4 in February next year. From a Canada Bay perspective, the local impacts of this may be severe. The RTA has no planned infrastructure works at the critical eastern end of the M4 at Concord Road and Parramatta Road, an area already subject to over-saturated traffic conditions. The RTA has indicated the M4 East would provide relief for these local problems, however this project is not being progressed. There is much talk about improving public transport in this corridor, but plans are uncertain and even if approved are many years away. I'll be writing to the Premier and Minister for Roads regarding the impacts of removal of the M4 toll on our local community and on Council's budget, and asking them to help mitigate the impact of their planned removal of the toll. I will keep residents informed of their response
