New bus shelters rolled out across Canada Bay

| 16 October 2014

Stage one of the rollout is due to be completed by mid February, with new shelters installed in Brewer St, Concord and along Victoria Rd, Drummoyne.

“The new bus shelters will provide undercover bus stops for commuters across our City,” Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

“They are also compliant with the Disability Discriminations Act, allowing for safer and easier bus access for the entire community.”

The new designs provide a ramp for easy embarking and disembarking, tactile ground surface indicators to assist the blind or vision impaired to identify the bus stop and boarding point, allocated space for wheelchair users and standard wheelchair height.

Stage one of the program will see 38 new shelters installed across the City.

Stage two of the program will commence in late February and is due for completion by mid year.
