Ferragosto program revealed

August 04, 2010

Music is always a big highlight of Ferragosto and this year is no exception. Three stages will feature non-stop music and dancing with a mix of Italian, homegrown and children's entertainment.

Italia will reign supreme on the Main Stage with an array of entertainment from traditional Italian folk songs and dancing to modern Italian music. Award winning singer/songwriter Juliana Melfi, Italian crooner Grant Galea and tenor, Angelo Di Bella, will all perform on the day.

Local talent will take to the Homegrown stage, featuring performances from Sydney's 'Glee Club', local breakdancers, the Shapeshifter Crew, Italian pop vocalist Jessica Illuano, acoustic folk singer Jess Chalker and My Guitar School's finest up-and-coming talent.

There will also be non-stop entertainment for the kids at their very own stage, FerraKids. From puppet shows to breakdancing, there is sure to be something for everyone.

As well as music and dance, the sights and smells of spectacular Italian cuisine will be on the menu with the return of FerraKitchen, this year starring celebrity chef Janelle Bloom. Residents were recently invited to enter the 'Cook with Janelle' competition, and the winner will help her cook a scrumptious Italian dish on the FerraKitchen stage.

If the excitement gets too much, you can soak up the atmosphere at FerraPiazza, Ferragosto's very own Italian square and wine market.

FerraPiazza is the place to learn more about Italian culture in Australia and all there is to know about Italia. In particular, you'll be able to find out about some of the regions where our local Italian community hails from.

Last year it was Fiats on show at Ferragosto. In 2010 the Alfa Romeo Car Owners Club of NSW step into the limelight to put on a fabulous display of hand picked Alpha Romeo racing cars that will appeal to all car lovers. Take a walk up Garfield Street to see this great display and take the chance to get up close to these wonderful cars.

Complementing the cars will be a superb display of motorbikes from from the Ducati Club. Don't miss these classic bikes on Great North Road.

So, drop in and enjoy a taste of Italy!
