Mayor's Golf Day raises $30,000 for St Vincent De Paul
The seventh annual Mayor's Golf Day raised $30,000 for the five local conferences of the St Vincent De Paul Society.
Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said the day was a great success with more than 140 golfers enjoying brilliant sunshine to play 18 holes of social golf at the magnificent Massey Park Golf Course, Concord.
"Over the past seven years, more than $150,000 has been raised directly for the community," Mayor Tsirekas said.
"This is an outstanding effort by all involved and I congratulate and thank everyone who took part.
"The $30,000 raised from this year's Golf Day will go a long way to helping the St Vincent De Paul Society in their work to assist local people in need."
Winning the day was the Communities for Communities team, with Regatta Motor Body Repairs coming in as runners up.
As part of the day, a fabulous barbecue lunch was held with some great raffles and an exciting auction boosting the coffers of the fundraising effort.
Sponsors of the day were Recoveries and Reconstruction, Cleanaway, Briars at Greenlees, Fuji Xerox, Truscott Toyota, Regatta Motor Body Repairs, Canada Bay Club, Massey Park Golf Club and The Palace Hotel.
The City of Canada Bay will also be collecting for St Vincent De Paul during the Christmas period, through its Christmas Giving Trees, which will be placed in the City of Canada Bay Administration Centre and Council's libraries.
