Community & events | 08 February 2019

What is Galentine's Day you may be wondering? First coined by Leslie Knope on the American comedy series Parks and Recreation, Galentine's Day is a fictitious holiday celebrated the day before Valentine's Day each year. A popular alternative to Valentine's Day, Galentine's Day is a day to get together with your girlfriends, relax and celebrate one another.

Whether spending time with your friends, family or loved ones, there are plenty of ways to celebrate both Galentine's and Valentine's Day in the Bay:

Plan a picnic at Cabarita Park
Situated on the water at the end of Cabarita Road, Cabarita Park is one of the most popular locations within Canada Bay for special events due to its beautiful surroundings. With its leafy surrounds, cool water breeze and under cover areas, Cabarita Park is the perfect place for a picnic with friends and family.

Bring the girls together for the Bay Run
One of Sydney's iconic running and cycling tracks – this beautiful 7km circuit takes in the sights and sounds of Iron Cove. Why not get your group of friends together for a leisurely stroll along the circuit, stopping for coffee along the way.

Treat yourself to brunch on Majors Bay Road
Majors Bay Road is one of the area's major eat streets, with plenty of cafe and restaurant options available to enjoy. Take your pick and enjoy some delicious food while supporting local businesses at the same time.

Get fit with your friends
Five Dock Leisure Centre is a community fitness, sporting and recreational facility provided by the City of Canada Bay. Enjoy getting active? This Galentine's Day, grab a friend and take part in a group fitness class to have fun and get active.

Have a dinner date at Rhodes
