Education seminar on asbestos
City of Canada Bay invites you to an education seminar to learn about asbestos.
This free informative seminar will dispel the myths and give you the facts about asbestos and asbestos-related diseases. Find out what it is, why it's dangerous and how to prevent your risk of exposure.
The Bernie Banton Centre, an Asbestos Diseases Research Institute, opened at Concord Hospital earlier this year. The Centre commemorates the late Bernie Banton who tirelessly campaigned to help victims of asbestos diseases.
The Centre's director and internationally renowned researcher, Professor Nico van Zandwijk, will head a discussion on asbestos-related cancer and prevention.
Karen Banton, Bernie Banton's wife, will tell her personal story and speak about her role in setting up the Bernie Banton Foundation.
Philip Hibbs from Hibbs and Associates will provide advice to home renovators about hazardous materials management.
This event will be held on Thursday, 29 October from 6.45-9pm at Concord Hospital's Conference Room.
Please contact Council's Economic Development team on 9911 6524 or email business@canadabay.nsw.gov.au to reserve your place. Bookings are essential.
