Bike share guidelines

City of Canada Bay developed these guidelines with five other Sydney Councils in response to the growing number of bike share bikes on Sydney streets and an increase in resident enquiries regarding the scheme.

“We are committed to working with public landholders and bike share operators to establish a balanced position that achieves transport, environment, health and other related goals, as well as the fair use of public space in our City,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.

City of Canada Bay, City of Sydney, Inner West Council, Randwick City Council, Waverley Council and Woollahra Municipal Council devised the guidelines in consultation with bike share operators and Transport for NSW.

“The increasing number of bike share providers towards the end of last year means that more bikes are available for our community to use.”

“These guidelines are a prime example of how we are developing, enhancing and promoting cycling facilities as a local transport option in our area,” the Mayor said.

The guidelines include customer safety and conduct, safe bike placement, distribution and redistribution of bikes, and will be reviewed in the coming months.
