Think recycling to win prizes

October 30, 2006
City of Canada Bay Council is marking National Recycling week by offering big prizes to residents who think recycling.

From Monday 30 October 2006, all city households will receive a National Recycling Week Competition Postcard containing five questions on what items can and cannot be recycled.

Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said:  “Our city is committed to recycling with every household owning dedicated bins.”

“Unfortunately, people sometimes put the wrong items in the wrong bins, which causes the entire contents of a recycling truck to become contaminated and unusable.  Hopefully, these questions will prompt everybody to take care when sorting out their recycling.”

To enter, simply answer the recycling themed questions and return the completed postcard to Cleanaway by 17 November 2006.  Fantastic prizes are up for grabs include a weekend trip four people to the Old Leura Dairy in the Blue Mountains, a digital camera, a Kathmandu store voucher, and great sustainable living prize packs.

National Recycling Week runs from 6 - 10 November 2006.  City of Canada Bay Council is running the competition with its waste and recycling contractor Cleanaway.
