Opera under the stars in Canada Bay
The annual Opera Night at Rivendell will be held at the Thomas Walker Estate, Hospital Road, Concord West on Saturday, November 7.
Proudly supported by City of Canada Bay, this year the event will raise funds for Concord Hospital's Clinical School, a teaching hospital renowned for its teaching and scientific excellence.
"Opera Night at Rivendell is a wonderful opportunity for residents and their families and friends to experience talented sopranos, tenors and musicians in the beautiful surroundings of Rivendell, one of our City's most picturesque locations, said Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.
"Council is pleased to support Concord Hospital through this iconic event and I encourage the Canada Bay community to come and be part of this fantastic evening."
Headlining the night is Indigenous soprano Deborah Cheetham, an ex-teacher at McDonald College, North Strathfield. Ms Cheetham is a world-renowned opera singer, performing at the 2000 Olympic Games, for the 2003 Rugby World Cup and Centenary of Federation concerts. She is currently writing Australia’s first Indigenous opera, Pecan Summer.
A 35 piece orchestra will accompany the many talented artists set to perform on the night.
Gates open at 6pm with the opportunity to enjoy music from supporting artists prior to the commencement of the Opera program at 7:30pm.
Ticket costs are $30 for adults and $60 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 children). Students and pensioners are $15. Dinner packages, which include dinner, opera performances and VIP seating are available for $150.
