Drummoyne Oval Precinct

World class facilities for Drummoyne!

There are exciting plans for Drummoyne Oval and the surrounding area following a successful grant application to the Federal Government.

$5.3 million has been provided through the Government’s Community and Regional Infrastructure Projects program which will allow Council to enhance the precinct, developing a high quality sporting, recreational, community and cultural area.

A main feature of the upgrade is a new community facility. This will provide spectator facilities including seating, canteen and toilets, a platform with views over Drummoyne Oval and Taplin Park, a community meeting room and additional storage, training and change facilities for  local sporting clubs.

Additional improvements to the precinct include; replacing existing stormwater filtration systems with a new system, installation of above ground rainwater tanks, repositioning of the turf practice wickets and, additional angle parking in Cometrowe Street.

Council has also received a grant of $1.7 million from the NSW Government to assist with funding the installation of improved lighting at Taplin Park football field as well as television broadcast night lighting around Drummoyne Oval and improved pedestrian lighting throughout the grounds.

Further upgrades in this precinct include the Taplin Park boat ramp. Council has been successful in its application to the State Government’s Better Boating Program. These funds will be used to add an extension to the ramp and a new pontoon, helping to make launching and retrieving boats easier and more convenient.

Work on the boat ramp will commence in coming months, during this time it will be necessary to close the existing ramp. Council apologises for any inconvenience and will advise residents the dates of closure when they are confirmed.
