Cabarita Swim Centre Redevelopment
Cabarita Swim Centre is receiving a major upgrade.
With a development application recently approved by Council, plans have been developed to completely refurbish this important facility to ensure our community has a leisure centre of quality modern standards. Outdated buildings and viewing platforms will be replaced with fantastic alternatives offering uninterrupted views of the harbourside from the pool and Cabarita Park.
Upon completion, the Centre will benefit from a new community room; a kiosk with glazed outdoor decking; repositioned adjoining male and female changing rooms; and refurbished timber seating areas. The Centre’s 50 metre Olympic pool will also be fitted with water heating and a new plant room housing mechanical systems such as filtration units.
Council’s initiative ensures the modernisation of this historical swim centre. The design will allow local residents to participate in several new activities both in and out of the water. Schools and swimming clubs will also have access to a facility which is perfect for carnivals and competitions. The Centre will meet modern disability standards with a lift and disability hoist, dedicated changing rooms and a rest room.
Cabarita Swim Centre is an outdoor heated venue consisting of an eight lane 50 metre pool measuring 1.3 metres at the shallowest point and two metres at its deepest. The Centre is located on Cabarita Road, Cabarita Park, Concord. Work on the upgrade is commenced in January 2008 and it is anticipated to be completed in late 2008.
