Use of Council Parks
The City of Canada Bay Council is home to some of the Sydney area's most picturesque parks and renowned sporting fields.
General Park Use
Council parks and open space are generally free for the community to use and enjoy. Use of these facilities is therefore on a first come, first served basis, and they cannot be booked for exclusive use. This applies to park benches, bbq's, seats and other fixtures.
For picnics or private (ie, not corporate) gatherings, you do not need to notify Council if the group is less than 100 people, provided you will just use the existing park facilities. If you wish to bring along any sort of amusement device (eg jumping castle), structure, or other equipment, you will need to seek permission by filling in the Amusement Devices and Temporary Structures application form. You can contact the Recreation Bookings Co-ordinator for more information.
For larger groups or corporate enquiries, please contact Council.
Wedding Ceremonies and Photography
We have several parks that are appropriate and very popular for wedding ceremonies. Cabarita and Prince Edward parks are the preferred locations, and both have rotundas that may be booked for exclusive use.
View our Weddings in Council Parks fact sheet for more information.
To apply, complete the Park Ceremonies and Related Photography form.
Please note we do not allow wedding receptions in our parks.
Sporting Fields
The City of Canada Bay is home to some of Sydney's finest sporting grounds. It is Council's responsibility to keep these fields in top (safe) condition for our local sporting groups, schools and residents. Therefore, it is not always possible to grant casual hirers access to fields.
View our Council Sports fields fact sheet for some information on our sports fields and local clubs.
You may also view our fact sheets page for more information on individual sporting fields.
If you are interested in using any of Council's sporting fields you need to first contact the Recreation Bookings Co-ordinator on 9911 6555.
Wet Weather Notification Service
Council offers a wet weather line that is updated with the latest sporting field closures and relevant information: 9911 6375. A written listing is also available on this website. In addition to this, sporting clubs are contacted directly by SMS and email in the event of closures.
