Aircraft Noise
Sydney Airport Corporation has advised Council that plans are underway at Sydney Airport for an upgrade to the Runway End Safety Area (RESA) at the western end of the airport’s east-west runway.
The upgrade is required so that the runway complies with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s (CASA) mandatory safety standards.
During the upgrade, the runway will be closed for eight months from October 2008 through to May 2009, which will result in temporary changes in aircraft movements around Sydney Airport. As a consequence, more planes will be flying over Canada Bay with residents unfortunately experiencing increased exposure to aircraft noise.
