Concord West (Hospital Precinct) - Parking Study

Update

Council is currently undertaking resident consultation and a parking survey in the Concord West Hospital Precinct with the aim to improve the parking surrounding Concord Hospital and the streets west of Concord Road that are impacted by parking associated with the Hospital and new developments in the area.

The parking review initially undertaken (for the precinct surrounding Concord Hospital) was compared to a parking survey. The study was carried out in 2002 to gauge the level of demand/change of on-street parking associated with Concord Hospital. Since the completion of the study parking on the western side of the study area has been impacted with the occupation of the new offices west of Homebush Bay Drive since the completion of the study.

In order to address these parking issues, Council has extended the consultation and parking survey to include the streets west of Concord Road - Killoola Street, Harrison Avenue and Phoenix Avenue.

The parking review and survey is inclusive of all the streets shown on the Concord West Parking Study, Consultation Boundary plan (please refer to attached map) and will be assessed and included in a parking study report which will be referred to Council for consideration.

Council has undertaken a parking study in the Concord West Hospital Precinct as a result of the increasing parking demand around the Concord Hospital area and the parking associated with the newly surrounding developments.

Council has assessed the parking situation and in order to reduce the parking impact to local residents a parking study has been prepared for the following streets: Loch Maree Parade, Tulloch Avenue, Phoenix Avenue, Killoola Street, Fremont Street, Merville Street, Hospital Road, Currawang Street, Boronia Street, Moala Street and Nullawarra Avenue, (north of Moala Street).

Council at its meeting on Tuesday, 16 August 2005 considered the report regarding parking issues in the Concord West area - Hospital Precinct and resolved the following:

1. THAT a resident survey and community consultation be carried out to determine which of the options referred to in this report are acceptable to the residents.
2. THAT following advertising of the proposed options and the assessment of submissions received, the matter be referred to the Traffic Committee and Council for final consideration.
3. THAT a further Option be included and that the Option be to retain existing parking restrictions throughout the study area.
