Australia Day 2009 - Citizen of the Year
The City of Canada Bay announced the recipients of its 2008 Citizen of the Year Awards at an Australia Day ceremony held at Concord Community Centre on Monday 26 January, 2009.
Citizen of the Year was awarded to Concord resident Alan Wright.
Alan has been an active member of the community for many years. He is a former Mayor of Concord and serves on many community groups including Concord Heritage Society, Chairman of Concord Food Services, Public Officer of Rotary Club of Concord and Chairman of Ardill House Child Care Facility.
Young Citizen of the Year was awarded to eighteen year old Patrick Massarani from Drummoyne. An accomplished musician, sportsman and public speaker, Patrick has contributed greatly to the school and wider community through his volunteer work and leadership activities.
Sports Citizen of the Year went to Concord resident Bradley Zalloua. At just fourteen years of age, Bradley has achieved high levels of success in martial arts, athletics and rugby league.
Arts and Culture Citizen of the Year went to Ashley Wing from Drummoyne. In 2008 Ashley utilised his creativity and skills in a number of ways to help others including through film and murals.
