As the repair works cannot be carried out while the carousel is in-ground, the entire structure will be removed.
The entire play area will be shut to the public on Wednesday, 20 May while the deck is craned out (which is expected to take all day). Apart from Wednesday, the remainder of the playground will be open as usual.
The cavity left by the extracted carousel will be covered with plywood and a temporary fence will be erected around the area until the carousel is reinstalled, which is expected to happen before the next school holidays (in late June).
