The Library provides access to a range of electronic resources to assist students and researchers.

Available Remotely and in Council's Libraries

  • Australia/NZ Reference Centre - Includes newspaper articles on Australian and International current affairs, business, social science, health, literature and biographical information;
  • Britannica - Encyclopedia Britannica online with student editions, dictionary, thesaurus, Internet guide and world atlas;
  • Consumer Health Complete - Has evidence based health reports, health news and articles and articles form health encyclopedias and reference books;
  • Good Reading Online - an Australian resource with information on 'Everything about Books' including thousands of easy to read independent book reviews and lots of interesting Australian and international articles, author profiles, stories on writers' houses, bookshops, short stories, book trivia and more;
  • GreenFile - An extensive online collection of general-interest, government and scholarly information covering all aspects of human impact on the environment;
  • Literary Reference Center - Has extensive coverage of literary biographies, plot summaries, criticism and author interviews;
  • MasterFILE Premier - Covers virtually every subject area of general interest, includes nearly 500 full text reference books, this resource is updated daily;
  • NoveList - Helps guide readers to other fiction titles of interest either by subject or 'read-alikes' - other authors who are similar to a favourite author;
  • Science Reference Center - Extensive coverage of articles on biology, physics, chemistry, earth sciences, space, the environment, wildlife and technology;
  • World Book Online - Online reference source providing a fully comprehensive authoritative encyclopaedia offering links to authoritative websites. Includes all articles from the 22 volume Print Edition plus over 3,700 more.

  • Ancestry Library Edition - An important resource to research family history, with more than 1.5 billion names in over 4,000 databases;
  • New South Wales Family History Document Service - Over 20,000 pages of online records for family history research in NSW;
  • Standards Australia Online - A comprehensive collection of International and Australian standards, many with full text coverage.

yourtutor Online 

Free online tutoring service.  Get help with your homework from trained, professional tutors!

  • For school students in Years 4-12;
  • Available Monday-Friday 4pm-8pm;
  • Subjects covered include Maths, English, Science, Assignment Research and Study Skills.

How it works:

  • Students select their subject and year level;
  • Students enter the online classroom where they are connected to a live tutor;
  • Student asks their question and the tutor works through it with the student.
