Council | 19 February 2026

The City of Canada Bay has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Australian Government as part of the 2025–26 Saluting their Service (STS) Commemorative Grants Program.

The STS grant will be used to restore and paint the Memorial Gates at the entry to Concord Pavilion of Honour.

The Concord Pavilion of Honour located in Queen Elizabeth Park, Concord was unveiled in 1921 and honours local soldiers, sailors and nurses from World War I and II. The restoration project will preserve and enhance the historic memorial gates, ensuring they continue to stand as a place of reflection and remembrance for current and future generations.

“The Concord Pavilion of Honour holds deep significance for our community. Restoring the memorial gates will help ensure this important site remains a dignified place where we can gather to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our nation,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna.

“We look forward to commencing restoration works on the Memorial Gates and continuing to honour our veterans within the local community.”

This funding forms part of a national investment of more than $1.3 million awarded to 72 organisations across the country through the latest round of the grant program, which honours the service and sacrifice of Australia’s veteran community.
