Planning & building | 08 April 2026

The City of Canada Bay has commenced the construction of a brand-new multi-court, pathway connections, and road safety treatments at Five Dock Park, as part of a major precinct upgrade.

The City of Canada Bay has commenced the construction of a brand-new multi-court, pathways, and more.

Scheduled for completion in June 2026, the project will provide the community with additional recreation opportunities, increased parking availability, and improved road safety and pedestrian access.

“With the population growth anticipated for Five Dock alongside the new metro, it’s important now more than ever that we invest in our parks and public spaces,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna.

“During consultation, we received overwhelming community support for the addition of new road safety treatments, parking spaces, and a multi-court at the park, which we are pleased to deliver as part of this project.”

The works will involve refurbishing and resurfacing the existing half basketball court into a multi-court, and constructing an additional multi-court for a range of sports, including basketball, badminton, and pickleball.

The works will also include the construction of 19 additional car spaces along Barnstaple Road, new traffic calming devices on Barnstaple Road and Ingham Avenue, upgraded pathways, landscaping, and more.

“We are committed to improving community access and safety wherever possible,” said Mayor Michael Megna.

“The Five Dock Park upgrade will feature speed cushions, pram ramps and refuge islands along Barnstaple Road and Ingham Road, as well as a wider shared path for cyclists and pedestrians.”

The Five Dock Park Precinct multicourt and shared pathway upgrades are proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with the City of Canada Bay.
