Join Council’s Repair & Reuse Day

Sustainability | 29 September 2026

This full-day event is dedicated to supporting our community to reduce waste and keep valuable resources in use, as we work towards a circular economy.

Council's Resource and Recovery Strategy sets out our community's pathway to achieving zero waste to landfill, including ambitious targets to reduce waste sent to landfill by 20% per person by 2030 and increase diversion of landfill from 38% to 60% by 2027.

"Repairing, reusing and sharing the things we already have is a simple way for everyone to play a part in reducing waste," says City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna. "The Repair & Reuse Day is a great opportunity to learn practical skills, discover new ways to give unwanted items a second life, and connect with others in our community."

If you'd like to get involved and learn handy new skills, come along to Concord Community Centre on Saturday, 31 October from 9am–2:30pm for a day packed with repair workshops, demonstrations, and other reuse and recycling activities.

Book in for a furniture repair workshop or clothes mending class, get your sewing machine or an electrical appliance fixed, donate a device you no longer use, or drop in for the toy swap, plus plenty more.

Whether you're an experienced repairer or have never picked up a needle or screwdriver, there's something for everyone.

The event is part of Council's ongoing work to support residents to move towards a more circular economy, where resources are kept in use for as long as possible.
