New improvements for Majors Bay Road

Planning & building | 05 August 2019

Majors Bay Road could be home to a beautiful new piazza for the community as part of a new plan for the area

City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas today announced a 10 year plan for Majors Bay Road, Concord.

“Major priorities of the plan include investigating the creation of a piazza for our community to gather together, addressing parking concerns, building cycling infrastructure, and creating a program of events for our residents”.

Majors Bay Road sits at the heart of Concord and is one of Sydney’s best al fresco eat streets, with a wide range of cuisines on offer including Italian, French, Japanese, and Turkish.

The heritage shopping village also offers a mix of shops such as gift shops, education, fitness, medical, and professional services.

“We have worked closely with our community to produce a Place Plan for the area, a living document aimed at being delivered collaboratively and in partnership with local stakeholders.”

The plan covers over 300 businesses and 14,000 Concord residents and seeks to foster a community that is well connected with the local village centre and encourages a thriving business community.

“We are committed to improving accessibility and enhancing the already active and vibrant culture centre of Majors Bay Road.”

Actions in the plan will be funded through Council’s operating budget and supplemented, where appropriate, by grant applications and strategic partnerships.
