Football fans can experience the excitement of FIFA World Cup 2026 at Rhodes Recreation Centre, with select matches broadcast on the big screen in the Community Lounge.
The Centre will be awash with green and gold spirit on Friday, 26 June, for Australia’s match against Paraguay, offering fans the ultimate local destination to cheer on the Socceroos. Patrons who attend in a jersey will receive a small prize while stocks last.
Mayor Michael Megna said the screenings reflect the City’s vision for Rhodes Recreation Centre as a place where people can connect and share community experiences.
“From the outset, Rhodes Recreation Centre was designed to be more than a sporting facility,” Mayor Megna said.
“We wanted to create a place where people could experience events like the FIFA World Cup alongside friends, family and neighbours. I encourage everyone to come along, support their favourite teams and enjoy the atmosphere as the world's biggest football tournament is played out live on screen.”
FIFA World Cup 2026 matches are being played across Canada, Mexico and the United States from 12 June to 20 July.
Screenings are free to attend and match schedules and viewing details are available on the Rhodes Recreation Centre website. Matches shown at the venue are subject to SBS broadcast availability and may change throughout the tournament.
