Mayor's Giving Tree brings joy to locals in need this Christmas

| 10 December 2014

"As we get together with family and friends this Christmas, let’s take the opportunity to show support to those who need a helping hand," said Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.

"There are many people who need our help so please give generously this Christmas."

Some of the items that are always needed include toys, tinned and packaged foods and toiletries - such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant.

All items will be donated to and distributed by the five local St Vincent De Paul Society Conferences in the City of Canada Bay, which are made up of volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure those experiencing disadvantage can have an enjoyable Christmas.

The Mayor’s Giving Tree is now up at Council’s Civic Centre in Drummoyne and donations are also being taken at Five Dock and Concord Libraries.

Donations can be made until 10am on Friday, 19 December.
