Nature strip planting

The City of Canada Bay welcomes residents to plant street gardens (including nature strips or verges), which are important pieces of public land that have the potential to enhance the biodiversity and liveability of our City by greening and softening our urban landscape.

Our Nature Strip Policy and Guidelines allow residents to have a safe and sustainable approach to gardening on nature strips. In many areas within the City of Canada Bay it is possible to plant on the verge or nature strip and create a street garden, with low shrubs and ground cover. The links below provide the information you need to start planning your street garden.
