“Entrants in this year’s Colour the Bay were of a very high calibre, showing the pride our community takes in creating and maintaining their wonderful gardens,” he said.
Judged by a panel of independent experts, the gardens were assessed on design, layout and maintenance. The winner of each category received a $500 voucher and recognition for their great efforts.
Winning the category of finest house garden for a second year running, John Sheldon and Margaret Moore have established a traditional English-style garden in the front of their Five Dock home with topiary, buxus hedges, a water feature, star jasmine and white roses.
Winner of the best vegetable garden, Suzanne Thiebe has created a sustainable living and working space that provides food and fun and includes a veggie patch, banana trees, chickens and outdoor ‘rooms’.
“Congratulations to all of our gardeners and competition winners,” Mayor Angelo Tsirekas added.
