City of Canada Bay calls on residents to join Spring clean

Children | 10 October 2018

“I am pleased to announce the City of Canada Bay is teaming up with lululemon the healthy lifestyle inspired athletic apparel company, for a community clean-up at Halliday Park,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.

We are calling on inspired community members and yoga-lovers to join the enhancement and maintenance of our natural areas.

The project will be celebrating Halliday Park by giving it a well-deserved spring clean before summer hits and the area’s beloved migratory Bar-Tailed Godwits return from the world’s longest migratory flight.

“The spring clean is vital as our natural areas require regular and ongoing attention to preserve their ecological value and biodiversity, and conserve our environment,” said Mayor Tsirekas.

“The plan is to clean up the litter both on the river and on the shore, followed by a yoga class and coffee in the park. This event is part of our ongoing program to help make the Parramatta River swimmable by 2025.”

Abbotsford Sea Scouts will also be there lending a helping hand.

“The City of Canada Bay is a leader in environmental best practice. We demonstrate a commitment to sustaining the environment through projects such as this spring clean,” said Mayor Tsirekas.

The first 100 people to register to the project will receive a free event t-shirt on the day courtesy of lululemon.
