Council is trialling leash-free areas for dogs in Rhodes

| 07 December 2015

“Foreshore Park at Shoreline Drive and McIlwaine Park on Concord Road are the first spaces in Rhodes where dogs can be taken off their leash at particular times of the day,” said Mayor Tsirekas.

During the trial, dogs are allowed to be off-leash in a designated part of both of the parks before 9am and after 5pm each day.

“All dogs need regular exercise and Council understands the importance of being able to take your dog outdoors to a dog-friendly space.”

“It also provides a great opportunity for dog owners to meet each other, bringing the community together,” Mayor Tsirekas added.

The trial is currently underway and will run until . You can share your thoughts on the proposed dog parks .

After this time Council will assess the trial and decide whether to make the off-leash area an ongoing arrangement.
