The City of Canada Bay has announced $30,500 in funding for the conservation of heritage buildings.
"I'm pleased to announce applications for our 2021–22 Local Heritage Grants Program are now open," Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.
“The City of Canada Bay is home to over 500 heritage-listed items and 20 heritage conservation areas.
"Heritage buildings remind us of our past and give our local neighbourhoods character. It’s important we take care of our built heritage, not only for ourselves but future generations.”
The program provides dollar-for-dollar funding to successful applicants for small conservation works.
Up to $3,000 is available to owners of heritage buildings and $2,000 for contributory buildings in a heritage conservation area.
Some of the works carried out as part of last year’s program included repointing of stone facades, roof repairs and retiling, and restoration of original features such as doorframes and coloured glass screens.
Applications will remain open until the $30,500 in funds are fully exhausted.
