| 29 October 2014

The AFL today released its fixtures for next year’s NAB Challenge and City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said having the Swans play at Drummoyne Oval was a great result for the Inner West.

“We are excited to host the Sydney Swans and Fremantle at Drummoyne Oval. What a fantastic opportunity for our community to see AFL stars in action, particularly two teams who featured well into the finals this year,” he said.

“Drummoyne Oval is a great community facility and is a perfect back-drop for this game.”

AFL NSW/ACT General Manager Craig Bolton said it was fantastic to bring elite AFL football and the Sydney Swans to Drummoyne Oval and the Canada Bay community.

“The work of the City of Canada Bay to enhance this venue to become a premier suburban oval has allowed this unique and exciting opportunity to occur,” he said.

“Junior AFL clubs throughout the Inner West of Sydney have enjoyed strong growth in the past few years and we’re delighted for these fans.”

The AFL today announced the NAB Challenge dates and locations, describing many of the suburban and regional ovals as some of the most iconic in Australia.

AFL General Manager – Broadcasting, Scheduling and Major Projects Simon Lethlean said the 2015 NAB Challenge will see “top-flight football at some of the game’s most cherished suburban venues, including Drummoyne Oval”.

The Sydney Swans v Fremantle Dockers match will be held at Drummoyne Oval on Sunday, 15 March at 4.10pm.
