Update: waste collection back on track

| 20 August 2014

In good news for residents, our waste collection services are back on track after trucks resumed duties at 5am this morning, Friday, 22 August 2014.

Cleanaway (Council's resource recovery contractor) will be working Saturday and Sunday and we expect all waste bins to be serviced over the weekend (23-24 August).

We ask residents to continue to leave bins out for servicing until your bin is emptied.

Please be aware that garbage trucks will be moving through streets to collect waste over the weekend and we urge motorists and pedestrians to take extra care on roads and footpaths.

The news follows a decision by Transpacific, which owns Cleanaway (Council's resource recovery contractor), to ground its entire fleet for safety checks this week after a fatal accident in South Australia.

As a consequence, there have been significant disruptions to scheduled waste services across Sydney.

Cleanaway has been working to minimise the impact to residents and is endeavouring to resume normal collection services as soon as possible.

We will provide updates online as they come to hand.

Thank you again for your patience.
