The City of Canada Bay Bike Plan has taken into consideration a number of previous bike plans and related studies. Consultation for the development of the Bike Plan was based on input from the local community, the Local Bicycle Users Group (BayBug), Council and RMS. Feedback was extensive from BayBug and included several meetings, workshops and detailed saddle surveys by members of the group.

A Strategic Review of the Bike Plan was undertaken in 2014 with the primary aim of rationalising the existing bike route network and prioritising short and medium term works to improve and extend the network. A number of the identified projects have already been completed or are in progress.

In a joint initiative between Sydney Olympic Park Authority and City of Canada Bay, a Homebush Bay Cycling Map has been developed and is available here.

Council has received government grants and provided its own funds to provide improved cycling facilities in recent years, including:

  • The Bay Run around Iron Cove
  • Concord shared pathway

The City of Canada Bay has also worked with the City of Sydney and other neighbouring councils to plan the Inner City Regional Cycle Plan, which may be funded by the State Government in coming years.
