Apply for a Residential & Visitor Permit

Everything you need to apply for or Residential and Visitor parking permit.

Breadcrumb

If you live in a permit parking area within the City of Canada Bay, you may be eligible for a Residential or Visitor Parking Permit.

A Residential Parking Permit allows an eligible resident’s own vehicle to park without time restrictions in designated Residential Parking Zones. A Visitor Parking Permit is not linked to any specific vehicle and allows vehicles displaying it to park in approved permit areas without breaching posted time limits.

Eligibility

Residential and Visitor Parking Permits

You may be eligible for a residential / visitor parking permit if:

  • Your property address is in a City of Canada Bay permit area (you can check your address here).
  • You live permanently at a ratable residential address.
  • For a residential permit, you own the vehicle, and the registration certificate shows your name and residential address as the garaging address.

Documents you will need

To apply for a Residential or Visitor Parking Permit, please prepare the following documents:

1. Proof of Residency:

Provide two documents that show your name and residential address (documents addressed to a PO Box are not accepted). Acceptable documents include:

  • Council Rates Notice
  • Residential Tenancy Agreement
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Bank Statement
  • Utility Bill (e.g. electricity, gas, water, phone or internet)
  • Pension/health care card
  • Electoral card

If you own the property you live in, you can choose a Rates Notice as one of your documents. We’ll use it to verify your name and address, so you won’t need to upload it separately.

Please note, documents relating to your vehicle cannot be used as proof of residence

2. Vehicle Registration Certificates (Residential Permits Only)

For a Residential Parking Permit, please provide the registration certificate for each vehicle at the address including those not requiring a permit.

  • Certificate of Registration must include full name and vehicles garaging address. For a digital copy, see the Service NSW guide and website.

If you use a company vehicle, you must also provide a letter from your employer confirming:

  • your position,
  • your home address, and
  • that you have full private use of the vehicle.
