Local Heritage Grants Program

The City of Canada Bay operates a Local Heritage Grants Program to encourage conservation work. Dollar for dollar grants are available of up to $3,000 to owners of heritage items and up to $2,000 to owners of contributory buildings in conservation areas.  For the 2021–22 financial year there will be a total of $30,500 in funding to be distributed. 

Applications can be received at anytime and are only accepted for work that has been completed and paid for. In addition, a minor works application must have been approved for the works

Applicants must: 

  • Read the Local Heritage Grants Program Guidelines
  • Submit a completed Application Form
  • Provide a copy of the minor works approval letter
  • Provide a detailed description of the proposed works, and where relevant, sketches of work and plans
  • Provide before, during, and after works colour photographs
  • Provide evidence of costs (tax invoices).

The aims of the fund are to:

  • Encourage work to heritage items that will conserve and enhance the heritage significant aspects of the heritage item
  • Encourage work to contributory buildings in heritage conservation areas in order to enhance the contribution the place makes to the heritage values of the area
  • Help residents by assisting with the cost of conservation works
  • Encourage greater interest and awareness for conservation of heritage places within the City of Canada Bay
  • Promote a positive community attitude towards heritage conservation within the City of Canada Bay.
