In the lead up to National Tree Day on 30 July, we’re celebrating the special trees that make up our urban forest in the City of Canada Bay!
Our City is home to many significant trees; notable for their impressive size, age, rarity, ecological value, or cultural, social and historical importance.
At about 90 years old, the monumental Moreton Bay Fig at Five Dock Park and the Kaffir Plums at Warbrick Park are just two examples. The Kaffir Plum tree exhibits a unique growth form, making it an ornamental feature in Warbrick Park. The Moreton Bay Fig stands in the heritage-listed Five Dock Park, providing food and shelter for native animals like the grey headed flying fox and King Parrots.
Come along and check out the display at Concord Library to learn where to find significant trees in our area, and how you can help build our urban canopy.
This is a free exhibition.
