These vital planning documents, including FuturesPlan20 (FP20) have been updated and drafted to deliver on the long term vision for the City of Canada Bay.
Part of the City of Canada Bay’s Your City: Your Vision: Your Lifestyle project, the draft revised FuturesPlan20 and accompanying documents (the organisation’s draft four-year Delivery Plan; draft Resourcing Strategy; draft 2013-14 Operating Plan and Budget and the draft 2013-14 Fees and Charges document) will go on public exhibition from 19 April until 24 May.
The revised draft of FuturesPlan20 was prepared earlier in the year based on feedback and ideas from the community, with the City of Canada Bay taking on board many recommendations from its 2012 Citizens’ Panel and the 2012 Customer Satisfaction Survey. The draft was on exhibition during February and March.
The draft four-year Delivery Plan; draft Resourcing Strategy; draft 2013-14 Operating Plan and Budget and the draft 2013-14 Fees and Charges document have been prepared based on feedback received during FuturesPlan20’s exhibition.
Included in the documents is a full program of capital works to be delivered over the next four years, as well as detailed activities to be achieved over the coming 12 months.
“These new plans incorporate the everything we believe we can do to accomplish what the community wants,” City of Canada Bay General Manager Gary Sawyer said.
The Plans also acknowledge Council’s ongoing work on the recommendations of the 2012 Citizens’ Panel, which included a reluctant view that a rate rise may be required in future to direct the level of funds needed to ensure roads, footpaths, foreshore areas, parks and other assets meet the standard the community wants.
“First we’re working hard to consider the details of their 84 recommendations, and to find every way we can to save costs and generate income,” Mr Sawyer said.
Council has committed to complete a full investigation of the recommendations, and has also initiated an organisational review to find internal savings, ensure infrastructure is prioritised, to match service delivery to community expectations and to generate new income streams. Both the investigation and the review are ongoing and will be considered by Council later in 2013 before any consideration about rates will happen.
“We know there are challenges ahead in achieving the community vision of diverting more funds into infrastructure renewal and maintenance and we’re looking at all options open to us,” Mr Sawyer added.
“In the meantime, we’ve prepared our plans and budgets to reflect our commitment to sustainability and innovation, and we want to ensure sure we’re delivering the services and infrastructure prioritised by the community.
“The Delivery Plan is our roadmap for how we can do that and we encourage our residents to have a final say on whether we’ve got it right.”
Copies of the full draft plan are available for viewing at Concord and Five Dock libraries, the City of Canada Bay’s Civic Centre in Drummoyne, from Customer Service on 9911 6555 or online
