The City of Canada Bay is excited to announce a landmark 5-year partnership with Sydney Thunder to make Drummoyne Oval the club’s new home ground for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said the partnership represents a fantastic opportunity to enhance the City's vibrant sporting culture.

“We are delighted to welcome Sydney Thunder to Drummoyne Oval, a world-class facility that is set to become an electrifying venue for cricket fans over the next five years.”

“Having an elite team like Sydney Thunder call Drummoyne Oval home will not only enhance the City’s reputation as a premier sporting destination but also bring significant economic benefits,” Mayor Megna said.

“We’re thrilled to call Drummoyne Oval our new home for WBBL,” Sydney Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland.

“This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to give our players and fans the consistent home venue they deserve, and bring top-tier cricket to an enthusiastic and welcoming community. We look forward to sharing the excitement with fans in the City of Canada Bay.”

From November 2024, Drummoyne Oval will host several high-profile WBBL matches, beginning with a thrilling lineup of three events this season:
