7 easy ways to use less plastic, as told by you!

We're on a mission to change the world one plastic item at a time. Reducing plastic will help us to protect the Parramatta River, our parks, bushlands and native flora and fauna.

Recently, we asked our residents what tips they have for living life plastic-free. Close to fifty of you shared your tips for reducing single-use plastic, here are just some below:  

1. Bee about the beeswax

"I’ve banned cling wrap in my home and use beeswax wraps instead. I use them to cover food or create mini pouches and wraps for my children’s lunch boxes. They are fantastic!" Vanessa

2. Clean it with coconut rough

"We have swapped out our dishwashing sponges with coconut scourers. Not only do they last longer but they can be thrown into the garden to decompose." Anonymous

3. Load up that old laundry bag

"Old laundry delicates bags are great as bags when you're out veggie shopping. They're light too so don't add much weight to the scales." Bruna

4. Keep telling that toy's story

"We go to our local Church Op-Shop to buy and swap children’s toys! It’s always full of treasures and it means that we are not overloading our local environment with plastic packaging." Robyn

5. Refill, don't landfill

"I'm so happy to be one of the many who always has a refillable drink bottle with me and also one of the many who enjoy the endless perks of saving extra cash and always drinking enough water because you know I won't be tempted by those other options." Jessica

6. Hack your habits

"Try one new thing at a time until it becomes a habit. Take your own water bottle, have keep cup in the car for buying coffees, pack produce bags and shopping bags straight back into the car." Anonymous

7. Reduce, reuse, recycle
